Build Your Own Laptop-Specific Second Screen With Recycled Parts

Dual monitors are useful for a lot reasons, even if they don’t actually affect productivity. Buying a second monitor is straightforward if you’re working from a desktop computer, but it’s much trickier with a laptop. YouTuber DIY Perks shows you how to build a second monitor from recycled parts that works great with a laptop.

The project here takes an old laptop screen and a control board, mounts those to a piece of wood, then wraps everything up in a vinyl sticker. The whole project cost him about $25, but your mileage will vary since it’s all secondhand parts. Either way, the end result is a pretty handy little second screen that works great for those rare moments when you need a dual monitor setup with your laptop. Tablets work great for this too, but if that’s not an option, DIY Perks’ project is worth a closer look.
