If Winter Storm Stella Screwed With Your Travel Plans, You Might Not Have to Pay a Change Fee

Much of the northern east coast is being hit by storm Stella this week, which means delayed or cancelled flights to and from major airports like JFK, LaGuardia, Newark, and Logan. Here’s what your airline may be doing to make up for the travel hassle.

For domestic flights, many airlines, like American Airlines, Delta, and JetBlue, are waiving flight change fees they normally charge (usually a few hundred dollars) so that you can book a different flight to get on your way. Other airlines, like Virgin America and United, are waiving differences in fares on top of waiving flight change fees. As with most airline offers, you might have to follow certain guidelines (like flying into the same city or traveling on certain dates later this week), so check with your airline’s customer service line or website to make sure you meet requirements when booking and qualify for the waived fees. If your international flight has been affected by Stella, reach out to your airline directly to see what they can offer you. At minimum, they’ll likely be able to re-route you so you can carry on with your trip without too much of a disruption.
